Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Effective July 15, 2026

This policy supplements our Privacy Policy. It applies when information handled by Pair is considered consumer health data, including under Washington’s My Health My Data Act. Pair is not a health-care provider, and using Pair does not create a clinician-patient relationship.

Consumer health data we collect

Depending on what you choose to share or use, the categories are:

  • relationship, sexual-health, reproductive-health, abuse, safety, substance-use, disability, and mental-health information in your messages, profile, preferences, feedback, or reports;
  • social, psychological, or behavioral patterns and readiness or wellbeing inferences Pair derives from conversations;
  • crisis signals, referral actions, and safety-review status;
  • coarse location and dating preferences when reasonably linkable to health or sexual-wellbeing information; and
  • account and device identifiers used to associate the information above with your account.

Sources

We collect this data directly from you, from your use of Pair, from information you ask Pair to infer or remember, and from safety or conduct reports involving your account. We do not buy consumer health data from data brokers.

Why we collect and use it

  • to provide the companion, coaching, memory, and matchmaking features you request;
  • to personalize responses and build the profile visible to you;
  • to apply your preferences and readiness choices to introductions;
  • to detect and respond to safety, self-harm, abuse, and fraud risks;
  • to secure, debug, and operate the service; and
  • to comply with law and enforce our Terms and Safety Center rules.

Consent and choice

Registration asks separately for consent to collect consumer health data for Pair’s requested features. That consent is not bundled into acceptance of the Terms. You can avoid providing particular details, opt out of Matchmaker, delete individual conversations, or delete your account. Withdrawing collection consent means Pair can no longer provide features that depend on this information.

Pair does not share profile information with another member unless you opt into Matchmaker and both people consent to the introduction. Raw conversations are not shown to another member.

Processors and other recipients

We disclose data only as needed to providers that operate the requested service: Fly.io for application hosting; Neon for database hosting; Upstash for request state and limits; OpenRouter and the selected upstream model provider for conversational inference; OpenAI or another configured embeddings provider for numerical representations; Cloudflare for delivery and moderation; Resend for account email; Stripe and RevenueCat for billing; and professional advisers or authorities when legally required. These providers may receive only the categories needed for their task.

Pair does not sell consumer health data. We do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not authorize processors to train general-purpose models on Pair conversations.

Retention

Full chat turns are generally retained for up to 90 days, then reduced to profile observations used by Pair’s memory. Safety events and reports may be kept longer when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, establish or defend legal claims, or satisfy law. Account deletion removes active data, subject to a rolling backup window and legally required preservation.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may confirm whether we collect or share your consumer health data, access it, withdraw consent, and request deletion. Use the account deletion control in Pair or email privacy@datewise.io or hello@datewise.io. We will authenticate the request and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
